White birch bark is stark in the sun. Woodpiles sit very still. Mailboxes stand, contentedly expectant. Moss, birds, tides, daffodils, butterflies, moths, ants, worms, squirrels, mice. Yesterday I took this picture when I was sitting on the steps with Astrid who was home sick. We sat there in the sun and blew bubbles and wore sandals for the first time this year.
